Erin Taylor
Clinical Psychologist
she/her
Erin has been described by her clients as a warm, caring and empathetic psychologist. Erin also swears occasionally, and has an unhealthy obsession with coffee. She’s not the kind of psychologist that has memorised the DSM5, but she has sat where you are, wanting to know how to make things better. Erin has experienced waaay too many bereavements, infertility and the IVF process (does not recommend, by the way), and a lived experience of anxiety that means she has sat where you are, wanting to know how to make things better.
Erin’s journey took her to the mainland where she has worked in multimodality clinics, headspace, in alcohol and other drug clinics, in primary and secondary schools as a school counsellor, and bushfire recovery counselling after the Black Summer bushfires. Erin has experience working with LGBTIQ+ clients, Indigenous clients, young people aged 12-25, and with presentations including anxiety disorders, depression, personality disorders, trauma, PTSD, alcohol use disorders and eating disorders.
Prior to psychology, Erin worked as a nutritionist (she holds a bachelor’s in health science and loves food and cooking). She has a special interest in diet and nutrition and the influence of food and gut health on mental health (and exercise, so be warned!).
Erin tends to use a CBT and ACT-based collaborative approach to assist clients. Erin isn’t directive, but will listen and offer strategies and interventions for clients to try.
Being a part-time psychologist means that Erin is also a dog-mum to the three most beautiful border collies in the whole world, she’s a respectful parker, a zealous Queen fan (a love that started in 1986), an enthusiastic rock collector, keen snorkeler and obsessed Zelda (BoTW and TotK) player.
